Notre Dame Hospital
Support Program
Volunteers are
Needed
Have you or a loved one ever
-
Been hospitalized on an
emergency basis while traveling in the US?
-
Had to go to a distant
hospital for long term medical care?
The Notre Dame Alumni Association and the
Senior Alumni Regional Directors have responded to this need by creating
the National Assistance Network and the ND Hospital Support Program.
The primary purpose of this program is to provide assistance to members
of the Notre Dame family during their stays in hospitals and to those
who are homebound 24/7. This is a four-part program:
1.
Emergency Care:
Provides emergency assistance to individuals who are hospitalized while
traveling through a Club’s area.
2. Pre-planned
Care: Provides support to caregivers and patients who come to a
hospital in a club’s area, from a distant location, for surgery or other
specialized procedures that have been planned in advance.
3. Long
Term Care: Provides special support to patients in long-term
facilities such as Assisted Living Facilities, Nursing Homes, etc.
4. Additional
Care: Provides support to local alumni and families in their
homes. Support may include sitting with the patient for short periods
thereby enabling a break in the routine of the caregiver, running simple
errands, lending a hand with household tasks or providing
transportation.
This program serves an important need for
all of us and it complements the Notre Dame culture and spirit in our
community.
Our Club has registered to be a part of this
Notre Dame- nationwide effort. But, to make it a reality in our
community, we need your help. We are looking for a Program Coordinator
and for program volunteers. If you are interested in either
opportunity, please contact the Club at
